One Body, One Career Intensive (OBOC) 2023

13 June - 24 June / New York City / organised in collaboration with Gibney
29 July - 8 August / Amsterdam / organised in collaboration with Henny Jurriëns Studio

In 2023, there will once again be two One Body, One Career Intensives (OBOC) to choose from: one in Amsterdam and one in New York City! The OBOC is thé hub for everyone interested in knowing more about Countertechnique, and brings together participants from all over the world to delve into Anouk van Dijk’s Countertechnique method, to learn invaluable skills for their career, and to build connections around the globe. OBOC offers dancers pathways to delve in deep, dance their hearts out, or explore both. After a successful first edition at Gibney in New York in 2022, we're bringing the OBOC to the United States again in 2023, whilst also hosting the event again at Henny Jurriëns Studio in Amsterdam.

The OBOC Intensive has been designed for professional dancers and advanced dance students interested in pursuing a long, healthy and successful career in dance. First time participants will gain a detailed introduction to the distinct elements and methodology that form Countertechnique, while returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen and expand their understanding. Through physical practice, theory, discourse, elective and creative workshops, participants will gain a set of practical tools that they will be able to draw from and apply in their daily dance practice and through performance seasons.

The combined 2023 faculty in New York and Amsterdam include Countertechnique Founder and former Chunky Move Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk, Senior Teachers Countertechnique Niharika Senapati, Joy Davis, and Elita Cannata, Teachers Countertechnique Rosanna Tavarez, James Vu Anh Pham, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, and Francesca Dominguez and long-time collaborator, Alexander Technique Teacher Tom Koch.  Each OBOC will run for 10 full days, separated by a break in the middle.
