2018 ONE BODY, ONE CAREER COUNTERTECHNIQUE INTENSIVE
From 2-13 July 2018, Chunky Move and Countertechnique present the annual One Body, One Career Countertechnique Intensive in Melbourne, Australia. Working for ten full days with Countertechnique Founder and Chunky Move Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk, Master Teacher Nina Wollny and Alexander Technique expert Tom Koch, the OBOC offers a wealth of information to both first time and returning participants.
The OBOC Intensive is for professional dancers and advanced students interested in pursuing a long, healthy and successful career in dance. First time participants will gain a detailed introduction to the distinct elements and methodology that form Countertechnique, while returning participants will have the opportunity to deepen and expand their understanding. Through theory, physical practice, discourse and workshops, participants will gain a set of practical tools that they will be able to draw from and apply in their daily dance practice and through performance seasons.
The 2018 OBOC Intensive will offer daily Countertechnique classes and Practical Tools sessions. Nina Wollny will teach her much sought-after partnering workshop alongside her dynamic anatomy sessions and Tom Koch will build on his specific approach of Alexander Technique for dancers in plenary and individual sessions. Anouk van Dijk will share her love for space, improvisation and the creative process. In addition, participants will learn and perform recent Chunky Move repertoire. The intensive will conclude with a shared presentation of the various workshops at the Chunky Move Studios.
Each OBOC hosts about 45 participants. All previous editions have drawn a mix of participants from all over the world, including North-America, Asia, Europe, South-America, the Middle-East, Russia, and of course Australia and New Zealand. The OBOC is not only the ultimate opportunity to immerse yourself in Countertechnique, but also an amazing opportunity to meet dancers and choreographers from around the world and build an international network of peers.
The One Body, One Career Countertechnique Intensive will run from 2 – 13 July 2018, full-time, Monday to Friday. Applicants must be able to attend the full two-week period.
The full cost for the intensive is $900 AUD.
An Early Bird price of $870 AUD is available to successful applicants who have submitted their application prior to Friday 15 December 2017.
Returning participants (2014 – 2017 editions) and tertiary dance students can register at the Early Bird price until the closing date (19 January 2018).
